IV Hydration Therapy

IV fluids are specially formulated liquids that are injected directly into your vein to help prevent or treat dehydration efficiently and effectively. They can be used for people of all ages who are ill, vomiting, or dehydrated from exercise, heat, or excessive activity. Intravenous rehydration is a simple, safe and very common procedure with a low risk of infection or complications. At Mills Urgent Care, we will treat patients 18 years of age or older (or 15-17 years of age with legal guardian present or consenting) with IV hydration therapy.

There are many signs and symptoms that can allow you or the medical provider to discern if you are dehydrated and could benefit from IV Hydration. It affects many organ systems of the body.

When you’re dehydrated, it can affect:

• Energy levels or fatigue
• Cognitive performance
• Electrolyte imbalances
• Gastrointestinal function including decreased urination or constipation
• Increasing headaches or severity of headaches
• Physical performance for activities
• Skin health and elasticity

Signs of dehydration include:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Dry eyes, dry lips and tongue, including lack of tears
• Dry skin that stands up on the back of the hands
• Fatigue and feeling tired or weak
• Rapid heart rate or breathing
• Hands and feet that are cool, pale or blotchy (extreme dehydration)
• Less urine than usual (fewer than 3-4 times per day)
• Urine that is dark yellow and has a strong odor
